Run it yourself

obacht is free and open source: run the server at home.

obacht is free and open source (AGPL-3.0). The server is one program with a Postgres database; the parent app comes with it, and children's devices connect to it.

  • NixOS: a module, services.obacht.
  • Kubernetes: a Helm chart.
  • Anything else that runs containers: the container image.

Optional: sign-in through your own identity provider (OpenID Connect), the DNS filter for TVs and consoles, a UniFi router, Home Assistant, Steam playtime.

Running obacht at home walks through all of it. The code is on GitHub.
